On the occasion of the International Volunteer Day (December 5), the Municipality of Heraklion invites the volunteer groups active in the city and in the region to inform citizens about their activities.

The event will start on Thursday morning, December 5, 2019, at 10:00 and will end at 14:00, at the atrium of the Town Hall (Loggia). During this time the representatives of the volunteer groups of the Municipality will have the opportunity to come into contact with citizens, to distribute information material and, above all, to exchange views, both among themselves and with the public.

In the afternoon of the same day, in the Manolis Karellis Hall (Androgeo 2, 2nd floor), at 19.00, the Mayor of Heraklion Vassilis Lambrinos will symbolically award, as every year, two volunteer groups for their overall contribution.

This year, the Association “Palliative Care of Crete – Zacharias Bandouvas” and the Pancretan Association of Voluntary Blood Donors and Body Organ Donors “HematoCritis” will be honoured.

Praise will be given to all groups participating in the volunteer celebration.

Immediately afterwards, the new Volunteering Platform of the Municipality of Heraklion will be officially presented – http://www.citizens4heraklion.gr/

2. Presentation of the actions of the Association “Haematocritis” by the President Mrs. Irini Gergianaki (Specialist in General Medicine, Doctor of Medicine, University of Crete Medical School).
– Presentation of the Electronic Platform for Volunteering by the Head of the IT Department of the Municipality of Heraklion, Mr. Kostas Mohiannakis.
– Award of praise to all the volunteers participating in the volunteer celebration.
