Explore the highlights of the "Nature for Mental Health" Erasmus+ Youth Exchange in Croatia. Discover how our participants used outdoor experiential learning and a digital detox to boost well-being, foster intercultural connections, and rediscover the power of nature in the heart of the Lika region.
In February 2026, our team traveled to the scenic Lika region in Veliki 沤itnik, Croatia, for the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange “Nature for Mental Health.” Alongside 30 participants from across Europe, we explored how the great outdoors can serve as a powerful tool for emotional well-being and self-development.
Focusing on Well-being
The program centered on outdoor experiential learning and a much-needed digital detox.
By stepping away from screens and into nature, participants developed team-working skills, environmental awareness, and mindfulness techniques to support their mental health.
Growth and Recognition
Through intercultural exchange, our Greek delegation built lasting friendships and returned home with the Youthpass certificate, documenting their new competencies. We are proud to support initiatives that empower youth to prioritize their mental health while reconnecting with the environment.

"What stayed with me was how we supported each other. If someone was struggling during a hike or a workshop, there were five hands ready to help. That’s where the ‘mental health’ part really happened for me.

"Spending a week without my phone in the Croatian mountains was a bit of a shock at first, but honestly, it was exactly what I needed. You realize how much noise you have in your head from social media. I feel a lot more ‘here’ now.

"I didn’t really think a forest could help with stress, but ‘Nature for Mental Health’ proved me wrong. It wasn’t just about the trees, but how the group clicked. We actually listened to each other without distractions.

"The project actually did what it said on the flyer. We didn’t just sit in a room talking about nature; we were out in it every day. It felt like a total reset for my brain.

"It was amazing to see how 30 people who didn’t know each other on Monday were acting like a family by Sunday. The Lika region was the perfect spot for this鈥攓uiet, green, and far away from everything.
